Learn the Grandaddy of Swing!
You’ve seen it on the silver screen for over a century and now it’s time for you to dance all night. Jump into some fun and you will be ready to tear up the dance floor in no time! This progressive class will teach you the basic patterns of the 8-ct “Swingout” where each week we’ll progressively teach you more core moves that is the backbone for your Lindy Hop. Giving you enough “Lindy Tools” to keep you dancing with everyone and all night.
We’ll go over the “Hollywood Style” of Lindy Hop! You will learn the Swingout plus some simple & fun moves. But most importantly learn how to connect with any partner, and build your confidence dancing to different styles and tempos of music. We’ll break things down slowly and clearly, give you plenty of practice time, and rotate partners throughout the class so you’ll count-less-dance-more with everyone. Each week we’ll teach you a bunch of new moves and spins.
LINDY HOP is characterized by an 8-count break away or the basic called “The Swingout”. Lindy Hop has an emphasis on improvisation and the ability to easily adapt to include other steps in 8-count and 6-count rhythms. It has been danced to almost every conceivable style of music. This slotted dance incorporates multiple combinations done to slow or fast music.

**NOTE: This is a Progressive Series – Meaning each week you will build upon the previous week’s material. Then progressively teach you more core moves and combinations. Giving you enough “Lindy Tools” to keep you dancing with everyone and all night.
COMPLETELY NEW DANCE FLOOR INSTALLED! NO STREET SHOES!
You should never wear street shoes on the dance floor – it tracks in rocks, dirt, oil, mud, water and guck from the parking lot onto the expensive wood dance floor. You should always change into a SECOND pair of shoes AT the event. If you do not have dance shoes yet, bring a pair of gym socks to put over your shoes.
RECOMMENDED SHOES: Shoes that have flat bottoms made of suede, leather, felt, or non-grippy are best. For your basic CLASSES, we recommend you buy a pair of comfy gym shoes with lots of cushion, then glue a piece of thick felt on the whole bottom.
**NOTE FOR DROP-INS:
Drop-ins are ONLY ALLOWED IF you already know the Lindy Hop Swingout. Since this is a intermediate series and we build upon the basics already covered in Lvl 1 series. Dancers with prior experience can join but must be able to catch up on their own. Private time may not be available.
